Peter’s Premier quality shines through on BBC’s ‘The One Show’
Peter’s Premier Pies have won yet another award – although this time the judges were a little bit different than what they are used to.
With Swansea City securing their place against Bradford City in the Capital One Cup Final on the 24th February, ‘The One Show’ put the clubs head-to-head with a range of quirky club contests. One such contest was to see which club had the best tasting pie in a live ‘pie-off’ on Friday’s show, between the pies from Swansea City, baked by Peter’s; going head-to-head against the pies of match-day rivals Bradford City.
Clare Morgan, Marketing Controller, “ ‘The One Show’ is one of the most watched & well-known programmes, so we were delighted to submit our pies for the “pie-off” and show our support for our Cup Final team. Although we were very confident that our pies would prove to be the favourite, I must say that we were nervously awaiting the result!”
The “pie-off” was hotly contested, with both Peter’s Steak & Worthington’s Pie and the Bradford’s Chicken Balti Pie, tantalising the taste buds with the guest judge; celebrity and TV presenter Steve Jones.
Morgan continues, “It was a close call with both pies proving popular, but our Premier class shone through, with the Steak & Worthington’s Pie, baked exclusively for Swansea City, proving to be the winner!”
As Swansea City prepared for the Capital One Cup Final, Peter’s also prepared a tasty treat for over 2,000 Swans fans heading to Wembley by giving out a range of products to the high spirited fans leaving on club coaches.
John McAughtrie, Foodservice Director, and a big Swansea City fan, explains: “The heart of a football club is its fans. They’re the ones that turn up through thick and thin, in bad times and good, and the weekend was all about them. We wanted everyone to have a great day out, starting with a nice tasty pastry treat to set them up for the journey!”
