Peter’s pies pick up the prizes at annual British Pie awards
Organised and hosted by the Melton Mowbray Pork Pie association, Peter’s came away with a Gold Award for the Premier Chicken & Mushroom Pie, a Silver for the Gastropub Ham, Cheese, Leek & Potato Pie and a Sliver for the Gastropub Chicken & Mushroom Pie.
Judged by one hundred pie experts including top food critic Charles Campion, TV chef Rachel Green and BBC sports commentator Jonathan Agnew, pies at the awards were submitted across 20 classes in total.
With a staggering 983 pies entered, the criteria for the tough judging job covered many top pie attributes such as appearance, texture, and taste of both pastry and filling.
Clare Morgan, Marketing Controller: “We are thrilled that our hard work and passion for creating great pies has been recognised. The standard of pies entered into the awards is so high – which make winning a British Pie Award such a great honour for Peter’s”.
Matthew O’Callaghan, Chairman of the Melton Mowbray Pork Pie Association, added: “Pies are one of our nation’s favourite traditional foods and we organise this event to celebrate the quality and heritage of these iconic products. This year’s event was a resounding success and yet again we were impressed with the high quality of the pies entered by passionate pie makers”
