Peter’s keeps spirits up in business charity sleepout
Peter’s helped to keep up the spirits of over 70 hardy business owners who slept outside last night (Thursday 27th March) to raise awareness of homelessness and poverty in south Wales.
Peter’s pastries were sold at the ‘CEOSleepout Cardiff’ event to help raise money for the cause, with a whopping £63,000 raised in total!
The team slept outside in the grounds of Cardiff Castle.
The money raised will now be distributed among four local charities involved in addressing the causes of homelessness, and supporting individuals faced with severe hardship.
Those charities are: the Trussell Trust (Cardiff Foodbank), Llamau, CEOSleepout UK, and Service Leavers Wales, an organisation which supports UK veterans after they leave the Armed Forces.
One of the organisers for the Cardiff event, Dan Langford said: “Some 85 per cent of homeless people had previously been subjected to some form of abuse in the past, and therefore we hope that this event will also help to raise awareness of these ‘hidden’ causes of homelessness.
Peter’s Marketing Manager Claire Conway said: “We’re pleased that our donation helped to keep up the spirits of the troops and raised funds for such a worthy cause.”
