Peter’s achieve Canmol success… Second year in a row!

Wales’s premier pie-maker Peter’s is celebrating further award success, having beaten off stiff competition to come out on top in the Food, Drink, Retail and FMCG category at this year’s Canmol Wales Marketing Awards, for the second year in a row.

Organised in conjunction with the Chartered Institute of Marketing and hosted at Cardiff’s St David’s Hotel, the prestigious awards recognise both individuals and companies who have demonstrated excellence in the planning, delivery and execution of their marketing campaigns to guarantee a good return on investment through best practice.

The Caerphilly-based pie-maker triumphed over both Princes Gate Spring Water and Cardiff-based Equinox Communications to be honoured for the company’s creative marketing of the innovative Heinz Beanz range of chilled savoury pastries, which are manufactured, marketed and sold under license by Peter’s Food Service in South Wales.

Originally launched in April last year, the new range of slices and rolls – which boasts flavours including the classic Heinz Beanz slice, Heinz Beanz with Spicy Meatballs, alongside sauce-topped pork sausage rolls – saw the nation’s favourite baked beans become available for the first time in a handy, convenient form for Heinz Beanz lovers to eat on the go, hot or cold.

The six week integrated marketing campaign targeted six major cities, reaching over 26 million people utilising advertising, regional PR and social media.

In its first six weeks of sale alone, the Heinz range gained 1% share in the chilled savoury pastry category.

Speaking about this latest award win, Peter’s marketing director Clare Morgan said:

“It’s fantastic to win this award – and for Peter’s to scoop it a second year in a row makes it even more special.

“The Heinz range of slices and rolls brought variety and innovation to the chilled pastry category and a lot of hard work from a lot of people went in to making this campaign the success that it became.

“We are delighted that this has been recognised by such a well-respected industry body.”

Speaking of the win, Heinz Brand Manager Chris Isaac said: “Winning this award gives credence to the quality of Heinz chilled pastries.

“The brand was worth £ 8.4M in its first 12 months and continues to grow.

“It is a pleasure to work alongside Peter’s Food and we are thrilled that the hard work behind the range has been recognised.”
