‘Pete the Pie’ powers to the finish line at inaugural Caerphilly 10k!
With his “speedy shoes” on, the Peter’s Mascot joined over 1,700 runners from across the UK to take part in the first ever Caerphilly 10k race.
Despite the wind, and a little rain, crowds lined the streets of Peter’s home-town to cheer the runners around the Caerphilly course. Even with tough racing conditions, Pete completed the race in 1 hour, 9 minutes & 22 seconds!
Clare Morgan, Pete’s trainer & co runner, said “Pete was really the star of the race! All along the route the crowds & runners cheered, gave hi-fives and helped push our speedy mascot across the finish line. The support was wonderful – at times it felt like we were running the ‘Pie’philly 10k race!
The honour of winning Caerphilly’s first race went to 28-year-old Cardiff resident Rob Bugden from the RAF. The runner crossed the line with a time of 32 minutes & 12 seconds.
Morgan continued, “It was an exciting first race for Pete and he brought a lot of joy to the crowds and his co-runners. He’s already got his eyes on his next big challenge – watch this space!”
