Cardiff newlyweds say ‘I do’ with a sausage surprise!

A pair of newlyweds were ‘rolled’ over when they were presented with a unique surprise at their wedding.

Peter’s Pies fans Jamie, 34, and Alison Smith, 32, from Roath in Cardiff were left open-mouthed when they were presented with a giant heart-shaped sausage roll on their big day.

Sausage roll lover Jamie and his new wife got their first taste of married life by receiving the gift in front of family and friends at their reception at Le Gothique in Wandsworth, London.

Their friend Brychan Tudor, who organised the pastry present said: “Jamie has loved Peter’s sausage rolls ever since he moved to Cardiff to study when he was 18, and when he met Alison, he passed his pastry passion on.

“They regularly enjoy them as part of a late night snack heated up with some homemade chilli sauce, and we always bring a load of them to any party or gathering we have.

“The surprise from Peter’s was the perfect wedding gift and became the talk of the night.”

The sausage roll heart was over a foot tall and wide, and featured a giant wedding bow and roses made from Peter’s pastry.

Jamie and Alison have decided to get it varnished in an attempt to keep it as a souvenir.

Peter’s also gave the couple a hamper full of sausage rolls, which were shared out by the ushers for guests to enjoy during the evening celebrations.

Peter’s Marketing Manager Claire Conway said: “When Brychan contacted us about Jamie and Alison’s big day, we wanted to make something extra special to congratulate them.

“Our New Product Development team quickly got to work to add a touch of romance to their favourite Peter’s sausage roll, and we’re thrilled to hear it went down a treat.”

Teacher Jamie and mid-wife Alison have now jet-setted off for a relaxing honeymoon in Mexico.

Jamie said: “A massive thank you to Peter’s Pies who have made our day even more special. We didn’t realise that would be possible, so thank you.”

Claire Conway added: “We’re always delighted to hear from Peter’s fans so were really happy to bake this gift. We wish Jamie and Alison every happiness for the future.”
